Our Story.

Setting the standard for working at heights.

Locally owned and family-run, Fly-High Rope Access Services has built its reputation helping businesses across Mackay, the Bowen Basin and surrounding regions solve difficult access challenges safely and efficiently.

The company supports the resources, industrial, construction and building sectors, combining specialist rope access with qualified trades, inspection and asset-maintenance capability.

For many sites, reaching the work area can be one of the most complicated and expensive parts of a project. Scaffolding and conventional access systems may require significant transport, engineering, construction and dismantling before productive work can begin. This adds labour, equipment, cost and congestion, particularly within operating plants or during time-critical shutdowns.

Rope access offers a highly controlled and versatile alternative when it is properly planned and performed by qualified technicians. Lightweight systems can be established and repositioned quickly, without the bulky infrastructure required by many traditional methods. The smaller work footprint also minimises disruption to surrounding operations.

Fly-High technicians combine internationally recognised rope-access certification with trade, inspection or coatings qualifications. This allows one coordinated team to access an asset, assess its condition, report and support any required remediation. Services range from confined-space inspections, non-destructive testing and shutdown support to boilermaking, welding, rigging, protective coatings and rescue planning.

The approach is particularly effective on tanks, vessels, silos, pipework, façades, structural high points and confined spaces where scaffolding or elevated work platforms may be impractical. Benefits can include faster mobilisation, lower access costs, fewer interfaces between contractors and reduced operational downtime.

Fly-High’s capability has been demonstrated across a range of demanding projects for established local clients in the industrial and commercial sector around the region. In the last 12 months the company has accrued over 100+ assets, which have all successfully been inspected, repaired and remediated. Fly High prides itself in having delivered effective maintenance campaigns with no reportable incidents and compliant reporting.

Other experience includes coal-silo access and recovery, surge-bin inspection, structural repair at export terminals, offshore FPSO hull remediation, and working with Mackay Regional Council and Mackay Sugar.

Behind the technical capability is a close-knit local culture. “Every person in our business is part of the Fly-High family, because we only employ locals, we look out for each other, and we bring that same care, accountability and commitment to every client site.” - Astrid Arnon.

For regional industry, the result is a responsive local provider able to turn complex access problems into safe, practical solutions, with less setup, less disruption and the qualified capability to complete the work.

“Rope access is not simply about getting someone to a difficult location, It is about placing the right qualified person at the asset, with the skills to inspect it, repair it or protect it.” - Astrid Arnon
